The much-anticipated Annual Passholder previews for the Journey of Water Inspired by Moana got underway at EPCOT, but the start was marred by some confusion regarding the Virtual Queue.
In contrast to recent passholder previews where guests needed to register for a specific preview window, this time around, the process was different. Many passholders arrived at park opening with the expectation of joining a standby line, only to find a different setup in place.
Disney promptly initiated a unique version of the Virtual Queue, accessible by scanning a QR code located near The Land pavilion. However, the transition was not without hiccups. Some guests who thought they were queuing in standby were ultimately directed to a QR code poster to join the Virtual Queue. Unfortunately, the QR code failed to work for many users, leading them to seek assistance from Cast Members, who manually added them to the Virtual Queue.
Adding to the complexity, other guests arrived at the QR code poster from the Imagination side, effectively bypassing the physical queue to scan the Virtual Queue code.
To address the issues, Disney has made updates to the My Disney Experience app. Now, the Virtual Queue for Journey of Water can be accessed via the standard Virtual Queue tab in the app. This eliminates the need for QR code scanning and removes the requirement for guests to wait in a line for code scanning.
According to managers in the area, it's unlikely that the standby line will reopen, and for now, the attraction will continue to operate solely through the Virtual Queue.
A reminder for guests: the Virtual Queue for Journey of Water can be used once per day, and participants must already be inside the park to join.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting journey into the world of Moana at EPCOT!
